I want to make a Telephone Booking. Is that possible?

Yes you can book by telephone daily between 09h00 and 21h00 local UK time. Please click here to contact our call centre.

How do I book a Commercial Vehicle or Group Travel?

Commercial vehicle, freight, transit van, coach party or groups larger than nine persons ferry tickets can not be booked online. Please click here to contact our call centre who are able to accept your booking via the telephone daily between 08h00 and 20h00 GMT.

If I make an Internet Booking will I receive any tickets?

No, you will receive an on screen booking reference number which will also be sent to you by email. When you arrive at the port of departure you should present the booking reference number together with a photo ID and you will be given your tickets.

I need to only book a one-way ticket. How do I do this?

First select your outward voyage and then scroll to the top of the return route menu and select 'no return'.

I need to make a multi-leg booking (e.g.: Haysham - Douglas - Dublin). How do I do this?

I am trying to get a price going out with 2 people, and returning with just 1 person. Is this possible?

Due to limitations in the ferry operator reservation systems this cannot be done as one booking. However, it is possible to do it as 2 separate bookings. In this case, for example:
1. First booking for 1 person return
2. Second booking for 1 person single

I am trying to get a price for more than 9 people. Is this possible?

Due to limitations in the ferry operator reservation systems this cannot be done as one booking. However, it is possible to do it as 2 separate bookings. In this case, for example:
1. First booking for 9 persons and the vehicle
2. Second booking for additional persons as 'foot passengers'

I am trying to get accommodation on board for more than 4 people. Is this possible?

Due to limitations in the ferry operator reservation systems this cannot be done as one booking. However, it is possible to do it as 2 or more separate bookings. In this case, for example:
1. First booking for 4 persons, 4 berth accommodation and the vehicle
2. Second booking for additional persons and accommodation as 'foot passengers'

Please note that it is not necessary to book accommodation for infants.

How do I know which ferry company I am booking with?

Once you have made your booking you will receive your on-screen and email booking confirmation. This includes ferry operating company, port address, check-in time and other essential information. Also, if you look at the terms and conditions for your quotation/booking you will see the operators you have chosen for your routes.

Are bookings transferable to another vehicle?

Yes, providing the dimensions are the same as the original.

I will be traveling in a rental car. Can I book through the Internet as I don't know the make or registration number of the car?

Yes, just enter "Rental Car" in the Vehicle Registration fields and expected size of car e.g. small, regular, mpv etc. in the Make/Model fields.

How early do I need to get to the port before departure?

Your precise check-in time is detailed on your booking confirmation (on screen and in the email). However, as a guideline with most operators you need to arrive 60 minutes before for vehicle departures, 30 minutes before for foot passengers.

I would like to make a booking without a car. How can I do this?

To make a foot passenger booking please select 'Foot passenger' from the Vehicle dropdown at stage 2 of the booking process.

I am trying to book with a motor cycle but am unable to do so?

Most ferries do not cater for motor cycles as they do not have facilities for them. The only way around this is to book for a motor car and then use your allocated parking space for the motorcycle. Please note that under no circumstances will the ferry operator or anyone associated with the booking accept responsibility for any damage to your motor cycle during the voyage and that it is your responsibility to ensure measures are taken to ensure that it does not get damaged or fall over in the event of rough seas.

I am trying to book as a foot passenger and am unable to do so?

On many ferries accommodation and facilities is only adequate to cater for the expected amount of motor vehicle drivers and their passengers. These ferries are unable to accept bookings for foot passengers without affecting the comfort of other travelers and as such have no alternative other than to decline your request.

Am I able to alter my reservation once made?

Yes you may subject to an administration fee of no less than than £10.00. To change your booking please telephone +44 (0)1295 253455 and quote your booking reference number.

If I arrive early can I go on board straight away?

No, you cannot board until check-in opens

Can I take my pet (cat or dog) with me on the ferry?

Yes, but you will need to fill out a Pet Travel Scheme Declaration. These can be obtained from DEFRA - www.defra.gov.uk.

Also, you will need to contact us at mail@aferry.to or on +44 (0)1235 845600 to add the pet to your ferry booking (approximately £15 per pet, per route). Depending on the ferry operator and route, your pet may have to remain in the car for the duration of the crossing, with no passenger access.

Please note that certain ferry operators on longer voyages do not allow pets as they do not have proper facilities for them. The transportation of pets without DEFRA documentation is regarded as smuggling and is a criminal offence and could also lead to your pet being confiscated and/or put down.
